What is your homework policy?

Students will receive homework to complete each week.  The homework will be sent home each Friday in their homework folder (orange); completed homework should be returned before the following Friday in the homework folder.  Students should read for 15 minutes each night.  Both independent reading and being read to by an adult or sibling count!  Students will also receive a family game to play each week; this if for you to keep.  Finally, at various times, phonics and math practice will also be sent home; please return these sheets each Friday in their homework folder.

How do you celebrate birthdays?

Students may bring in their favorite book to be read aloud to the class and a special picture(s) to share. Will sing to your child and be sure they feel extra special

Will students have snack time?  What should they bring for snack?

Students will have snack time each morning.  Please send your child with a snack each day that is easy to access and open.  We love when students bring healthy options like fruits and veggies!  Please do not send snacks that are too messy or full of sugar; we want snack time to help set students up for success each day.  Some great snack ideas include: apple slices, baby carrots, grapes, applesauce pouches or Goldfish.  Snacks must be peanut and tree nut free.

Are students allowed to bring water bottles? ​

Yes!  Students will have access to their water bottles throughout the school day.

When and where do I drop off my student?

Drop off begins at 7:25 at the outside classroom doors.  Drop off students with their homeroom teacher.  Mr. Romero is at Door 10; Ms. Kirkwood is at Door 9.

Where do I pick up my child at the end of the school day?

Please pick up your child at the exterior classroom doors.  Honey Bees will end the day with Mr. Romero.  Fireflies will end the day with Ms. Kirkwood.

What are the school hours?

McKinley-Thatcher's school hours are 7:30-2:30 each day.

What is the Specials schedule?

Students have Art and STEM on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Students have PE and Music on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
